Breast Augmentation in Lafayette, LA

Breast augmentation, or breast enlargement, improves the shape and size of your breasts.

What is Breast Augmentation?

The general goal of the surgery is to enhance your natural breasts to improve the overall proportions of your body and help you feel more confident about your appearance.

Benefits of  Breast Augmentation

  • Improved breast shape and size
  • Increased confidence & self image
  • More satisfying sex life

Breast Augmentation Procedure

Breast augmentation is achieved by using silicone or saline implants. During your consultation appointment, your plastic surgeon explains the subtle differences between each type of implant. The implants are available in a variety of shapes and sizes. Implant shapes include round and teardrop. Round implants give you more fullness in the upper part of your breast while teardrop implants maintain a more natural shape.

Preparing for Breast Augmentation

Successful breast augmentation depends on an appropriate surgical plan based on the anatomy and personal desires of the patient. Your plastic surgeon considers your desired bra size and breast shape, cosmetic goals, body type and other factors. The details of your breast augmentation will be discussed during your consultation appointment so you have the opportunity to ask questions and make an informed decision.

Breast Augmentation Recovery

Your plastic surgeon provides post-surgical and follow-up care to monitor your recovery and healing. You may experience some discomfort, including swelling, tenderness, and bruising. You will be required to wear a compression garment and to rest for a few days after your surgery. As you heal, you will have some scarring which will become less visible over time. Additionally, your plastic surgeon carefully considers scarring when placing the incisions during the procedure.

Most of our breast augmentation patients are able to successfully breastfeed after the procedure. However, there is the potential for loss of nipple sensitivity, which may interfere with the ability to breastfeed. Patients need to consider this possibility when making the decision to proceed with surgery.
