Liposuction

Liposuction is the procedure in which fatty deposits are liquefied and removed from the body. The purpose of the procedure is to change the shape and size of one or two body parts that are not proportionate in fat distribution. Therefore, people who are at their optimal weight, underweight, or overweight are all candidates for liposuction. Although liposuction removes excess fat from the body, it is not performed as a means of weight reduction nor is a substitute for a proper diet or regular exercise.

Frequently Treated Areas

  • Thighs
  • Hips
  • Buttocks
  • Abdomen
  • Knees
  • Back
  • Arms

Your expectations and the risks associated with liposuction will be discussed during your consultation. The procedure can enhance and improve your appearance, but it is important to have realistic expectations before undergoing any treatment.

During the procedure, fluid is injected through small incisions made in the skin and narrow tube known as a cannula is inserted. Then the cannula is pushed and pulled through the unwanted fat layer to remove it. The surgery is usually performed in symmetry, meaning both inner thighs or both upper arms are treated at the same time.

Liposuction recovery is generally quicker and less painful compared to many other surgeries. After liposuction is performed on a certain area, it will gain or lose weight at the same rate as the rest of the body.
