is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana. He obtained his undergraduate education at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, now named the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. In 1971 he obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loyola Dental School of New Orleans, followed by a maxillofacial surgery training at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Romero went on to obtain a medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1977. This was followed by residencies in General Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas. He served as Chief of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Keesler Air Force Medical Center during the period from 1982 through 1985.
Dr. Romero's many areas of specialization include plastic and reconstructive surgery, craniomaxillofacial surgery, surgery of the head, neck, and oral cavity, surgery of the hand, and cosmetic surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is an active member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgery and the Cronin, Brauer and Biggs Society.
