Thigh Lift Procedure
The type and size of the incision depends on the nature of your thigh lift. In most cases, the plastic surgeon makes an incision from your groin area around your leg to the back of your thigh. Some patients may require the use of an incision around the top of the leg toward the groin area.
During a thigh lift, muscles are tightened, excess fat is liposuctioned, excess skin is removed and incisions are closed with sutures. Bandages are used to control bleeding and swelling.
Preparing for a Thigh Lift
Swelling, bruising, and tightness are common symptoms after a thigh lift surgery. Swelling typically lasts about three weeks. You are able to see some of the improvements made by your thigh lift, but you will not see full results until after about three weeks when the swelling subsides. After seven days non-dissolvable stitches will be removed, however, deeper sutures remain in place for two to three weeks.
Thigh Lift Recovery
You can expect to rest and limit your activities for two to three weeks after your thigh lift surgery, after which time your plastic surgeon may release you to return to work. Avoid exercise and other physically intense activities for at least four weeks.*
