BREAST REDUCTION IN LAFAYETTE, LA

Darrell L. Henderson, MD understans that many women deal with the physical and emotional effects of overly large breasts. For patients in Lafayette, LA, breast reduction is often the answer to decrease the size of their breasts, so they look and feel better.

What is Breast Reduction?

The surgery helps you feel less self-conscious about your appearance, which in turn, improves your self-confidence. In addition to the aesthetic benefits of the surgery, breast reduction helps with many medical conditions related to poor posture and excessive stress on your shoulders and back. Many of our patients are able to enjoy more activities after their breast reduction because they are no longer restricted by having overly large breasts.

Benefits of Breast Reduction

  • Smaller, firmer and lighter breasts
  • More evenly proportioned
  • Relief from physical discomfort and pain

The ultimate goal of breast reduction surgery is to give you breasts that are more in proportion with the rest of your body while reducing the amount of breast tissue.

Breast Reduction Procedure

During the procedure, your plastic surgeon removes excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin from your breast area. The technique used depends on your individual anatomy, and incisions are placed in locations where scars are less noticeable. You will see the results of your surgery immediately after the procedure, and the results improve as the swelling subsides.*

*Take note individual results may vary

Breast Reduction Recovery

Recovery from breast reduction takes some time, so we recommend that you plan to rest and relax for a few days. You may experience swelling, discomfort, tenderness, and other symptoms that can be managed with over-the-counter and prescription medications. You will wear a special garment for a period of time to help reduce swelling and aid with healing.

Most of our patients who undergo breast reduction surgery are able to resume their normal activities within one to two weeks after surgery. You should avoid strenuous activities, including exercise and sports, for three to four weeks post-surgery.

What Does a Breast Reduction Cost?

We accept most insurance plans and we offer financing options through CareCredit®. The total cost depends on the procedure. After your consultation appointment, we give you a total cost that includes anesthesia, pre- and post-operative care, and other associated costs.  To learn more, call our office today.
