Neck Lift Procedure
The neck lift procedure involves a small, inconspicuous incision directly below the chin, and in some cases behind the crease of the ears as well. Once the incisions have been made, the surgeon will gently separate your skin from the underlying fat and tissue so that the excess can be removed or tightened to improve contour.
It is common to combine a necklift procedure with other cosmetic surgery such as a facelift, chin lift or any procedure that improves the jawline, jowls and cheek area, which might involve liposuction.
The entire neck lift procedure takes two to three hours and may be performed under general or local anesthesia, on an outpatient basis.
Preparing for a Neck Lift
You should expect mild to moderate discomfort immediately following the procedure. Numbness, pain, and tingling may occur around the incision site, all of which are normal. Bruising and swelling are also common but will subside.
Neck Lift Recovery
After neck lift surgery, you may feel sore and swollen. It is important that patients keep their head and neck still after surgery, and sleep with their head elevated for the first few weeks. Patients should be fully recovered three to four weeks after the procedure.*
